Freemason
William Richardson was a distinguished and senior member of the Freemasons in Kingston. He was a member of the Ancient St. John's Lodge, which is one of the oldest lodges in Canada, and, according to the listing by the Grand Lodge of Canada, St. John's Lodge is # 3. According to the newspaper, when he died, he had a "grand Freemason's funeral". Apparently he must have had a very senior rank because the funeral procession walked all the way to Cataraqui Cemetary which was a distance of more than 10 miles.

using the Mormons online database, I found W2 listed, but, unfortunately the person who entered this got the mother incorrectly,

The got the correct first name, but not the last name
- it is not Paterson, it is Outerson,

and Dad said so cause he had been to Scotland and seen her grave and it was spelled "Outerson"

BTW, clicking on W2's father, provided nothing, their database has no info on W1 father of W2

Cousin Frank said in an email May 29th, 2006 that he found some info from the 1901 Census in Kingston.

"...the 1901 Census (district: Kingston City; sub-district: Sydenham Ward  - F1; page 13; lines 37 to 39) may refer to Jane Richardson (born, in England, 31 Oct 1828) and two of her daughters - Ellen (born 27 May 1865) and Margaret (born 23 May 1871).  I assume "Ellen" was Helen (Nellie) Richardson, but perhaps "Margaret" is another addition to the family...."

Frank's email suggests a different date for Helen (Nellie) Richardson b. 1866

and raises the suggestion of another daughter for W2
