William Richardson b.1796 had 4 children, but only two had children - son William Richardson b. 1828 moved to Canada and most of his descendants live in Canada and the United States - son John Richardson b. 1830 stayed in Scotland and most of his descendants live in England now, and some in Scotland.

•         George Richardson b. 1837 no known descendants

Exchanged emails with Dot Hicks in York - she has done a lot of Richardson research about Berwickshire  dot@hicks56.freeserve.co.uk Dot's email says "The search on John Richardson brought up only one born in Berwickshire John Richardson Railway Porter aged 50 Born Whitsome Elizabeth his wife aged 49 born Ladykirk, Berwickshire Christina his daughter a shop girl aged 21 unmarried born Edinburgh John T his son a Cab Driver aged 20 unmarried born Edinburgh James A his son a Silver Smith Apprentice aged 16 born Edinburgh Elizabeth his daughter a scholar aged 6 born Edinburgh (this information confirmed by my cousin Kevin Bruce in Dec 2011) The family were living at 55 East Crosscauseway, Census Place St Cuthberts, Edinburgh"

" think this is possibly your John born 1830, correct age and the fact he gave his daughter the name Christina.  His marriage certificate would give the names of both his parents ( Registration started in Scotland in 1855)  However even if he married before 1855  the above mentioned children were born after that date and their birth certificates would give the marriage date and place.  I am aware there is not a William amongst the children which would follow the naming pattern for your family, however that could mean that he had already left home."

IGI search 2003 July 9 using various names of John's Children - started with Christina - got a hit with a Christina Richardson born 1859 to a John Richardson and Elizabeth Simpson - seems to be the same one Dot told me about - unfortunately when I searched IC for info on the father John, nothing was available, no parents or siblings
